چکیده

a. We recommend application of either topical agents or intraluminal lock solutions in reduction of exit-site infection and catheter-related bacteraemia. Options of topical agents include mupirocin 2% ointment, polysporin and medihoney. Intraluminal lock agents include both antibiotic based and non-antibiotic-based solutions. Ideal antibiotics and optimal doses are yet to be defined. (Level 1 evidence)

The Impact of Intraluminal Vancomycin Adminstration on Prevention of Hemodialysis CatheterRelated Infections

Introduction: Percutaneously inserted double-lumen central venous hemodialysis catheters provide the nephrologist with an excellent temporary access for an immediate hemodialysis treatment and preserve the peripheral veins for the future creation of a permanent arteriovenous vascular access. Unfortunately catheterrelated infections are usually common. In this study, the impact of intra luminal ...

A Comparative Study on Using Coiled Versus Straight Swan-Neck Tenckhoff Catheters in Patients Undergoing Peritoneal Dialysis

The key to successful long-term peritoneal dialysis (PD) is permanent and safe access to peritoneal cavity. The two most commonly used Tenckoff catheters for PD are the straight and coiled catheters. The present study was undertaken to assess the catheter survival, catheter associated infections, and all cause mortality and to compare the straight with coiled catheters in PD. During April 1997-...

Central venous dialysis catheters: catheter-associated infection.

Tunneled dialysis catheters (TDC) are extensively used for long-term venous hemodialysis access and their use is frequently associated with infectious complications. Catheter-related bacteremia (CRB) is the most common and important infection associated with TDC use and may be caused by a wide variety of Gram-positive or Gram-negative organisms. Prevention of CRB can be difficult despite use of...
